- First consortial implementation of the Aleph Interlibrary Lending system in the region. This initially involves 4 member sites - 3 of which are multi campus sites. The aim of this new service is to deliver a fully automated integrated system where the entire cycle of an interlibrary loan request can be tracked from the originating request via the web opac through to delivery of the title to the user.
- UNILINC is currently working on an enhanced interface with DA Information Services on behalf of one of our university members. University staff select items in the DA bibliographic database. This data is loaded to the Aleph ILMS and orders with full the university's reporting are created and returned to DA by EDI as firm orders.
- Electronic Resource Management Implementation. This project involves establishing the first consortial implementation of an ERM solution in Australia. The ERM chosen is the Ex Libris Verde system and initially involves 2 universities. The project is on track and will go live by August 2007.
- Institutional Repository Hosted Service. UNILINC has developed a hosted IR solution to meet all institutional requirements including those associated with the Federal Government's Excellence in Research for Australia [ERA] for assessing and funding research in Australia as well as all other government and institutional reporting requirements. This hosted service is available to all interested parties. UNILINC has negotiated a unique licensing deal with the system vendor to provide the service to a range of institutions from small to large.
- Development of a Quality Evaluation Toolkit for smaller to medium sized members. The Toolkit enables member libraries to gather collection and usage data for the purpose of evaluating services as well as benchmarking with other similar sized institutions.
- UNILINC has been engaged to benchmark frontline and support activities in the major public library systems across six countries. The key elements in the study are frontline staffing and the use of technology in branch libraries and the management of technical services.
- UNILINC is working with a range of organisations in establishing library and information services.
- A trial of the display of book jackets for the local Aleph Online Catalogues. Clicking on the book jacket displays first chapters, TOC, summaries, author details and book reviews.
- RSS feeds for new titles list for libraries and their patrons.
- Major vernacular script cataloguing projects for public libraries.
